About Me

Hello and welcome!

About the blog:

I recently got into reviewing books I read and I really wanted to have my own place to post them and share my ideas. One of my friends suggested starting up my own blog, so here it is! I am new at the blogging thing, so please try and bear with me!

For the title, I have pride in Bri’s Book Britannica! The name may sound a little cheesy, but I could not call this blog anything else. The idea for the name came from a comment one of my college friends made. My dorm room consisted of a bed and books and when my friend walked into the room for the first time, she looked at me and asked, “How many sets of Encyclopedia Britannica do you have?!” From then on, my room was affectionately called Bri’s Britannica and I just had to use this name for my blog!

Bri’s Book Britannica mainly focuses on Young Adult and Older Young Adult literature. It features reviews, upcoming releases, author interviews, book giveaways, interesting news, and anything else tickles my interest.

About me:

So as you can probably defer from the title, my name is Bri (pronounced like the French cheese but without the ‘e’). I recently graduated from Duke University (GO BLUE DEVILS!) who cannot stay away from Young Adult literature even though I am no longer a teenager.

I am originally from a small town in Florida, but I am currently living in Kumamoto Prefecture in Japan teaching English at 5 elementary schools and 2 middle schools. It has been an interesting experience and I will be taking home a lot of funny stories! (The best one has been when one of the 5th graders at an elementary asked me why Florida was shaped liked a boy’s wee-wee.) It has been hard to come by books in Japan, but my Kindle is my savior right now!

When I am not reading, I am usually:

  • listening to music (I love alternative rock)
  • working on my novel that never seems close to finished
  • studying Japanese and Korean
  • catching up on American shows (Bones, Criminal Minds and The Mentalist)
  • travelling
  • playing video games (anything for the PS3 and PSP that I can get my hands on)
You can also find me on Goodreads!
